LUCIA representatives attending St James Church Service. Salter Street and Shirley Parish
The Salter Street and Shirley Parish donated £740.00 to LUCIA on 21 January 2007.

There are four churches in the parish: St. James, Shirley, St. Patrick's, Salter Street, St. John's, Tidbury Green and Christ the King who meet at Widney Junior School. The money raised at the fayre was from all four church congregations.

LUCIA representatives attended a splendid service at St James Church, during which they gave a talk about. LUCIA’s work and were then presented with a cheque. We are very grateful for the kind generosity Salter Street and Shirley Parish has shown and would like to thank all of its members for their support.

Members of LUCIA gave a talk to the Mothers Union. The members of the Mothers Union got to hear about the first hand experiences of Ethiopia from the perspective of two LUCIA members.

The women were treated to a visual display of photographs and items (such as tyre shoes) that had been taken in or brought back from Ethiopia.  The women from the Mothers Union were able to identify with the Self Help Group women in Ethiopia who were doing their best to make life better for their children

Guides District Meeting Print E-mail
Written by Sylvia Gardiner
Friday, 30 June 2006 10:00

Three members of LUCIA gave a talk to the Guides District Meeting.  There were over 100 Guides there who generously donated £2.50 each to LUCIA.

The Guides listened to a talk that discussed the differences in life styles that an English girl would have to an Ethiopian girl e.g. food, water, housing.  The Guides listened attentively to the talk and asked lots of questions afterwards.  They also have a drawing and letter writing competition that they will complete for LUCIA over the next few weeks with LUCIA giving a prize for the best drawing and letter.
