My name is Annika, I'm nearly 29 years old, and this June I will be cycling from Land's End to John O'Groats with my boyfriend and four others.
It's one of those challenges that a lot of cyclists are drawn to. We're mountainbikers, really, but doing it off-road would take the better part of a month, so we're sticking to tarmac and aiming for 12 days -- that's about 90 miles per day. We'll be carrying tents and everything; we need to be as self-sufficient as we can. Now we'll just need to practice those anti-rain-dances and do a little more training!
Although sponsorship isn't my primary reason for doing the ride, I'm happy that I'll be raising money and awareness of LUCIA along the way. After all, the second thing most people seem to ask when they hear about our plans is "Are you doing it for charity?" (The first thing is "Are you mad?")
So: Yes, I am, and no, I am (probably) not, and I hope our little adventure can raise some support for LUCIA. If you would like to sponsor me, please visit my JustGiving page. You can also read more about the challenge on my blog and twitter page.
Wish us luck!
